While it did nothing to exculpate those who had suffered and died,
it was a statement to other pharmaceutical companies. This was
wrong.
Putting this into context, regarding the image and reputation of
this corporation, who today would remember that this company’s
criminal activity caused suffering and death to a marginalized
segment of the population – our most vulnerable elders?
Regarding its financial
loss, when all was said
and done, they settled for
over $1.4 billion. According
to The New York Times,
"Zyprexa has generated
more than $39 billion in
sales since its approval in
1996, making it one of the
biggest-selling drugs in
the world."
